Modern Love Was Never Designed To Work

I still believe in love.

Perhaps that is the most rebellious thing I can admit today.

Not because I think love conquers everything.

Life has taught me otherwise.

Love cannot replace communication.

Love cannot regulate your nervous system.

Love cannot apologise on your behalf.

Love is beautiful. It is simply not trained.

Modern dating often feels like shopping in a supermarket where everyone is quietly afraid of being chosen for the wrong reasons.

We want emotional safety.

We want independence.

We want excitement.

We want certainty.

Sometimes we expect another human being to provide all four at the same time.

Research consistently reminds us that healthy relationships are built less on finding perfect compatibility and more on emotional regulation, repair after conflict and secure communication.

Perhaps lasting love has always been less about finding the right person. Perhaps it has always been about becoming someone capable of loving without asking another person to heal every unfinished part of us.

That realization once broke my heart.

Now it gives me hope, because skills can be learned.
